I am a licensed Ph.D. clinical psychologist. I am the co-developer of GST (Group ST) and offer online supervision and training in individual and group ST and self-therapy for schema therapists and those in the training process. I co-direct the Schema Therapy Midwest - Indianapolis ISST training program in Individual & Group ST. I am an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology at Purdue University in Indianapolis. I retired as the Research Director of the Center for Borderline Personality Disorder Treatment & Research at Indiana University School of Medicine - Eskenazi Health. I am active in research to evaluate the effectiveness of group ST and have been the principal investigator and co-PI on international trials of group ST. After 25 years as faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine, I now am in private consulting, training and supervision of Schema Therapy. Together with Ida Shaw I have given training internationally (22 countries so far).
I have written two books on ST published by Wiley-Blackwell: Group Schema Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder, 2012 and The Schema Therapy Clinician's Guide, 2014, one for Guilford Press (2018) Experiencing Schema Therapy from the Inside Out: A Self-practice/Self-reflection Workbook for Therapists and with Wendy Behary, The Deliberate Practice of Schema Therapy, American Psychological Association Press, 2023. A DVD of our group ST model is also available: Group Schema Therapy: An Innovative Approach to Treating Patients with Personality Disorder in Groups, IVAH 2012. I have written many journal articles and chapters on ST. I was the ISST Coordinator for Training & Certification 2012-2018 and am currently a member of the ISST Training & Certification Advisory Board and Chair of the Training Development Committee.
