Dear Advanced level certified schema therapists:

Required 3 hour ISST Training & Certification Basics webinar

This is the webinar that must be completed by all who want to qualify as ISST Certified Trainer-supervisorsYou only have to complete the webinar once. If you already have trainer-supervisor status or have attended you do not need to attend again.

I will give the webinar in English on

Friday March 24th 9am-Noon (EDST) which is 13:00-16:00 (UCT).

If there are a significant number of Australian members who need the webinar I will look at either trying to adjust the time or add another webinar session that better matches AUS time.

We will do it on Go-to-meeting (GTM). Please email Farrell@iupui.edu to reserve a spot. Shortly I will send you more information and an invitation with instructions about downloading GTM. . The cost is $45.00 which can be paid via paypal. I will send paypal invoices.

If you have not yet completed certification, but will finish advanced certification by the end of this year you may still register for the webinar.

As an alternative to this webinar, there are a variety of trainers authorized by ISST to provide this required webinar in other languages – these include German, Swedish, Italian, which you may attend – sorry if I have missed any.

Feel free to email me if you have questions.

    Warm regards,

    Joan

    Dear Fellow ISST Members:

Due to having knee replacement surgery March 16th followed by rehabilitation I will not be able to respond to your emails until after April 15th. I have approved and sent all certification reviews received from the country reviewers as of today to the ISST Assistant, Wolfgang to be sent out to you. If you have emergency questions during this period please address them to our president Eckhard Roediger, who will direct you to the appropriate document or person.

Thank you for your understanding.  I have scheduled this surgery to be able to see you all in Vienna.

    Warmly

    Hello-

I am happy to announce that we now have the first ISST approved training program in Couples Schema Therapy (ST-C). This program is directed by Eckhard Roediger, a pioneer in the ST-C area, under the auspices of IST-Frankfurt. Eckhard is a co-author of the first book on ST-C: Schema Therapy with Couples: A Practitioner's Guide to Healing Relationships with Chiara Simeone-DiFrancesco and Bruce Stevens.

I am also happy to announce newly approved Individual ST Training programs in Serbia, Ireland and Argentina.  ST Center Belgrade is organized by Dr. Tijana Mirovic and directed by Dr Christina Valliantou.   The Irish Institute of Schema Therapy (IIST) is organized and directed by Dr. Muireann McNulty. The Schema Therapy Training and Certification Program of Argentina is organized and directed by Dr. Patricia Escudaro-Rotman   These are important additions to our international family of training programs.

The Trainer-Supervisor Webinar scheduled for this month has been postponed due to lack of registrants. It will be rescheduled as there is need.

    Warm regards,

    Joan

    Hello-

Happy New Year and congratulations to the 107 ISST members who accomplished certification as a Schema Therapist in 2015.

Due to member requests I will offer the Trainer-Supervisor Webinar again in February 2016. The possible dates I am looking at are either Saturday Feb 20 or Friday Feb 26th between 13:00 and 16:00 UTC. If you are an advanced level certified schema therapist who needs to complete this requirement or you are near to completing the Advanced certification requirements and want to attend the workshop please email me and let me know whether either or both of these dates would work for you.

I would also like to invite any Directors of ISST Approved Training Programs who would like to sit in on the workshop to keep up to date with current ISST certification requirements to contact me as well.

I am having sporadic email reception difficulties with the ATT firewall, so using my university email is most reliable currently - Joan at IUPUI

I am happy to announce that the two Trainer-Supervisor Webinars were well-attended. The webinar set one time convenient for USA and Europe and attended by 18 and another convenient for Australia also attended by 18. Four ISST approved training program directors also attended who were able to give valuable insight to new supervisor-trainers. Attendees in general were very positive about their training and supervision experiences, citing self-reflection/self-practice as an important part of their supervision and development as therapists. It was clarified that supervision does not need to end after the ISST minimum is met, but can be a valuable resource throughout one's practice, at a lower  frequency. The specific three-fold Schema therapy supervisor roles:  mentor/role model, coach/teacher and therapist/limited reparenting agent were discussed as this differs from most other supervision approaches.

In response to my question of any "unmet needs" for new trainer-supervisors that ISST might meet, attendees asked for more opportunity to interact with other new supervisors via a blog or GTM scheduled meetings, local support groups, etc. In essence, more opportunities for connection. I suggested creating an online google group,  this blog and use of ISST GTM account to have some scheduled meetings as possible options. Anyone who would like to be included in such a group should contact me.

    Warmly,

    Joan

I will conduct the trainer-supervisor webinar required for certification as a trainer supervisor on July 8, 8am-11am EDT in English. This is the webinar that covers the ISST requirements for training and supervision that counts toward certification. The workshop fee is 40 euros. For those who sign up I will send a paypal invoice for payment. I will also send the reference materials and slide handouts at that time. The webinar will be conducted on Go to Meeting. This requires downloading that program from the invitation that I will send next week. If you have any questions, please email farrell@iupui.edu (my other email is having some difficulty)

If you are close to completing the requirements for Advanced level ST certification you may attend the webinar since it is given at most twice a year by me. I look forward to seeing some of you on the 8th.  As we grow as a society it becomes even more important for our trainer-spervisors to be clear on the certification requirements for the trainees they work with.

    Warm regards,
