JUNE 24 - 26, 2021 / WORLDWIDE
During the past year, we have all been confronted with the challenges of doing schema therapy online. For most parts of our therapy model it might not have been too difficult to translate the therapy model in an online format; the concepts and language are still the same and with some adjustments we still are able to build up or consolidate a warm, validating therapy relationship. Imagery Rescripting can be used without any necessary adjustments to the technique.
Chair Work, however, poses more challenging situations:how do we use chairs when we meet with the patient on a digital platform? How do we fight a Punitive parent mode in the start phase of therapy when the Healthy Adult mode of the patient is not yet strong enough to address this parent mode by him or herself and the physical distance between us and the patient makes it difficult to support them in fighting those internalized voices.
This presentation is specifically developed for schema therapists who want learn or want to refine their skills in the use of Chair Work online and aims to provide inspiration, tips and tricks in order to apply this powerful emotion focused technique in an online format.
The objective in this presentation will be an enjoyable, educational experience involving short introductions, followed by 3 role play demonstrations.
