Working with parts in front of the Mirror

Abstract:

Schema Therapy has been incredibly effective in working with parts of the personality, Modes. Since 2012 Alessandro Carmelita has started to work with modes in front of a large mirror. The initial approach has changed in the years, and Alessandro Carmelita and Marina Cirio developed a new system called Mindful Interbeing Mirror Therapy. During this workshop, Alessandro Carmelita will show how he worked using Schema Therapy in front of the Mirror and then describe the differences between Schema Therapy and the new approach Mindful Interbeing Mirror Therapy. He will show slides videos and will also do a live practice with one of the participants.

Learning how to start working with Schema Therapy in front of the mirror and what to learn from Mindful Interbeing Mirror Therapy.

Using the mirror significantly impacts the clinical practice. Especially to bypass the detached protector and to discover and strengthen a compassionate part of the personality

About the Presenter:

Dr. Alessandro Carmelita 

Dr. Alessandro Carmelita is an Italian psychologist practicing psychotherapy in the UK. Before training with international experts in Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, he qualified in Cognitive Therapy.

Dr. Alessandro Carmelita has more than 20 years of clinical experience and has trained and mentored hundreds of his fellow therapists. He is co-author of several scientific articles and two books: Schema Therapy Step-by-Step and Mindful Interbeing Mirror Therapy: the Psychotherapy in front of the Mirror.

He loves spending time with his three children, working clinically with his clients and travelling the world to train other therapists in MIMT.

Alessandro Carmelita gained his degree in Clinical Psychology at the Padua University of Clinical Psychology in 1999. Since then, He has completed specialist training in Cognitive Therapy at APC Rome, Schema Therapy at the Schema Therapy Institute of New York, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples at the Ackerman Institute of New York, and Accelerated Experiential-Dynamic Psychotherapy at ISC International.

Alessandro has been teaching for many years in the field of Cognitive Therapy, Schema Therapy and the last years in the field of Mindful Interbeing Mirror Therapy. He is usually very empathic and tends to interact with participants professionally and personally using personal and clinical examples and asking several questions.
