Workshop 7: Friday Early Afternoon and Friday Late Afternoon (F2W7 & F3W7) - 180 Minutes

Imagery Rescripting in Group Schema Therapy Part 1 & 2

by Joan Farrell, Rita Younan, & Erland Aschehoug

Aims:

ImRS is an important intervention in GST. Its implementation in a group, however, is more challenging than with an individual. Issues like safety and connection within the group must be strengthened and maintained. Group members must be included in the rescripting to meet the requirement of GST that the intervention is not just individual ST while a group watches.

In this workshop GST Trainer-Supervisors will demonstrate some of the adaptations of ImRS for use in GST including – ImRS for the group as a whole and Trauma rescripting in GST and working with a therapist’s memory to model the process and engage the group. Demonstrations will be followed by role-play practice with trainer feedback. The ratio of trainers to participants will be 1 to 10 so that each practicing group will have a dedicated trainer.

This workshop is intended for participants who have completed at least the 3 days of Introduction to GST. It will count as 3 hours of Continuing Education in Group ST to be used to partially meet the CE requirements of GST or Individual ST Certification.
