About
Dr Connie Geyer is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist working with young people, adults and couples in private practice in Central London (Liverpool Street and Marylebone) and online.
She has extensive experience in treating the whole range of mental health difficulties in the NHS and private practice, and also consults to organisations and provides clinical supervision to allied mental health professionals. Prior to going into full-time independent practice, Dr Geyer was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead for Young People's Service in a Central London NHS Trust, where she developed and managed services for young people (18-24) affected by complex trauma, including care experienced young people, refugees, and teens impacted by youth violence.
She enjoys working with clients from all backgrounds and aims to offer a non-judgmental, collaborative space in which clients can understand themselves better and make desired changes in life. Her therapeutic approach is person-centred, empathic and collaborative. Individual treatment plans are grounded in a shared understanding of difficulties. In addition to Schema Therapy, she also draws on other attachment-based models, particularly psychodynamic theory, emotion focused therapy and mentalization-based treatment. Where helpful, she offers DBT skills coaching and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
Dr Geyer is an HCPC licensed practitioner psychologist, a chartered psychologist and associate fellow of the British Psychological Society, a mentalization-based practitioner accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council, and holds group work practitioner status with the Institute of Group Analysis. In her spare time she enjoys practicing, and more recently also teaching, hatha and restorative yoga.
