Advanced Training Group Schema Therapy with Joan Farrell and Ida Shaw

This training is the follow-up training on the 4 day training Group Schema Therapy (E. Muste & O. Brand) and given by keynote trainers Joan Farrell and Ida Shaw (USA). The goal of the Advanced training GST is for you to have mastery of the core interventions of GST at the advanced level and the ability to meet the requirements of the Group ST Rating Scale. This will allow you to conduct GST with a less intense level of supervision.

After the Advanced training GST you:

  1. Are skilled at managing the necessary safe and reliable frame of GST.
  2. Are able to do imagery rescripting in the group.
  3. Are able to conduct multiple patient mode role plays.
  4. Understand and be able to employ symbols and transitional objects that match the developmental levels of the group when in child modes and for reparenting.
  5. Are able to employ limit setting and empathic confrontation in groups.
  6. Are able to create opportunities in sessions for Happy child mode play.
  7. Help patients develop and strengthen their healthy adult mode.

Programma

Day one focuses on interventions to get through the Maladaptive Coping Modes: including the avoidant and overcompensating modes and mastery of group empathic confrontation interventions.

Day  two focuses on interventions for the Dysfunctional Parent modes and accessing the Healthy Adult mode.

Day three focuses on interventions to reach and heal the Child Schema Modes including group imagery rescripting, playful interventions and limited reparenting by child mode.

Doelgroep

This training is for therapists who have accomplished the Training Group Schema Therapy in the past. Or any other training Group Schema Therapy, certified by ISST.

You should have some background knowledge in Schema Therapy. To update your knowledge the trainers suggest to reed their first book:

If you have their second book, you also could review the chapters on the model and the group.
