Course description:

Learn online: Schema therapy for older adolescents and young adults (late teens to mid 20’s).

When working with clients in their late-teens to mid-20’s, child therapy can feel too young and adult approaches don’t always stick. Schema therapy for adolescents and young adults adapts the schema therapy model for this age group and for their parents / caregivers (through a module specifically addressing family ruptures).

The course offers 6 modules with 22 videos (including skills demonstrations), and multiple downloadable resources. Participants will be given a new way to formulate needs, a new screening tool for emotional needs and schemas, a strength assessment tool which lies at the heart of adolescent schema therapy, plus guidelines for new techniques including the Flight Simulator, the Sherlock Strategy, the Backseat Critic, the Intention-Injury Swap, the Mode Theatre, and Coded Schema Messages.

Presenter:
Graham Kell is a clinical psychologist based in Australia, an advanced schema therapist (individual schema therapy), an advanced child-adolescent schema therapist, and a supervisor-trainer (child-adolescent schema therapy). Graham works in private practice with a particular interest in helping adolescents and their families. He is also a dad to two adult boys, which has hopefully added wisdom to his work with families! He is a regular speaker at schools to equip teachers, clinical workshops to train therapists, and conferences presenting schema therapy for adolescents.
