"key interventions for couples: mastering schema DIALOGUES and imagery rescripting"

WORKSHOP BY travis atkinson & poul perris

AIMS:
  • Learn the step-by-step framework for schema dialogues and imagery rescripting with couples
  • Know when to use each intervention to increase outcome effectiveness for schemas using mode work
  • Gain confidence to master both interventions through examples and practice

SUMMARY:
In your work with couples, which phase occupies the majority of your time? While an accurate assessment of schemas, modes, and cycles in couples work is crucial to effective treatment, the majority of your work will most likely be in the intervention phase. You want to excel at applying core interventions with couples, and this intensive workshop will help you master the key interventions of schema dialogues and imagery rescripting. Both techniques are especially important for change to occur when working with betrayals of trust, such as affairs or infidelity, forms of abuse, experiences of loss, and a history of trauma for one or both partners in a relationship. Vital elements of both experiential techniques will be highlighted through discussion, digital recordings of couples, and practical exercises to help you build your confidence to effectively apply the techniques with your couples. The workshop will show how schema dialogues and imagery rescripting can effectively use mode work to target schemas, and solidify change for both partners in a love relationship.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  • Have a clear understanding of the steps required for both schema dialogues and imagery rescripting with couples
  • Learn how to deepen the emotional experience of both partners, working effectively with both reactive and withdrawing modes
  • Apply both techniques to couples with challenging situations and overcome blocks that can thwart the effectiveness of treatment

The workshop is intended for: Beginners and Advanced
