Travis Atkinson served as the ISST Executive Board Media Coordinator from 2014 to 2020.

He is the Founder and Director of the Schema Therapy Training Center of New York (STTC), offering ISST-Approved training programs toward both Individual and Couples Certification for Standard and Advanced Levels. Visit: www.SchemaTherapyTraining.us for more information.

Practicing schema therapy since 1993, he is an Individual and Couples Advanced Certified Schema Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer.

Travis also has extensive training in top models of therapy, and is a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor, a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, and a Certified Group Psychotherapist. He is also an advanced practitioner of Daniel Siegel's Mindsight Institute.

Travis is a Founding Member of the New York Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy (NYCEFT), where he served on the Executive Board.

Travis has trained couples therapists nationally and internationally for many years, including trainings in Italy, South Korea, the Netherlands, and the New England Educational Institute in Cape Cod.

Travis helped Jeff Young establish the Schema Therapy Institute in New York, and served as a supervisor and training in the program. He is co-author of the schema mode therapy inventory (SMI). He is the author of “Schema Therapy for Couples: Healing Partners in a Relationship” in the Handbook of Schema Therapy (Wiley-Blackwell, 2012).

Travis also recently completed a training video to help couples therapists with Sue Johnson, Ph.D., the founder of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. Travis also served as chair of the Schema Couples Therapy Workgroup from 2014 to 2017, and as Chair from 2016 to 2017.
