Schema Coaching for Parents (SCP), Live Webinar with Zoom

Start Date and Time: 2022, January 28th, from 9:00-17:00 o’clock (CEST, German time).

End Date and Time: 2022, January 29th, from 9:00-17:00 o’clock (CEST, German time).

Description:

Schema Therapy (ST) can be regarded as an enhancement and development of cognitive behavioral therapy, and integrates emotions and also developmental aspects in particular at the centre of their diagnostic and therapeutic considerations. It is also particularly suited to generating action-guiding, diagnostic and therapeutic concepts, also and especially in the field of supporting parents.

Content of the Workshop: When we talk about Schema-Coaching for Parents (SCP) we mean a special form of psycho-education and parent work, in most cases in addition to the child-focused therapy. In parent coaching we talk not just about the child, but also about the PARENTS emotional core needs, adaptive and early maladaptive schemas (EMS), as well as functional and dysfunctional modes.

Goal of the Workshop: Participants learn how to apply the individual steps of SCP...

  • Investigate each parent’s present schema landscape (exploring each parent’s childhood)
  • Define how the child’s behavior triggers modes in the parents (the “emotional buttons” of the parents)
  • Go back into the parent’s childhood in order to clarify which needs were not met
  • Consider what kind of childhood the parent’s own parents had (including which schemas they had and still have, i.e. sketch a ”schema-genogram“ over 3 generations)
  • Use a family-board - a board with figures that represent family members
  • Use the family-board in a double-layer-structure.
  • Use adaptive coping strategies and positive schemas of the parents

Beside the basic features of schema theory, the workshop offers many practical demonstrations through picture and video material or life demonstrations, and small exercises allow the participants to transfer the content into their own practice.

Fee: 320 € (Payment via bank transfer (EU-states) or PayPal (non-EU-states).
