Thanks to Everyone Who Helped Make ISST Summer School 2015 PossibleThere is a reason Travel+Leisure magazine named St. Petersburg one of the "top canal cities in the world." Attendees to the 2015 ISST Summer School basked in the glory of the "white nights," while attending workshops focused on schema therapy's specialist topics. The White Nights Festival of the Arts brought together ballet and opera including the ballets Cinderella and Don Quixote performed by the world famous Marinsky ballet troop in the gorgeous, historic Marinsky theater, opera and folk music performances. Do you want to enhance your skills and expertise as a schema therapist, during one of the best times of the year to visit St. Petersburg? ISST invites you to join us for the 2015 Summer School in St. Petersburg during the White Nights Summer Festival. We will be hosting top experts in the field of schema therapy to present at workshops designed to help you broaden and expand your work with select populations and areas. It is also an opportunity to earn the continuing education credits required of all certified schema therapists or add to your work toward certification. Since this is one of the busiest travel times to St. Petersburg, we suggest that you make your travel reservations as soon as you can. ISST Summer School 2015 will take place from June 11th through the 13th. The venue will be the Holiday Inn, St. Petersburg Moskovskye Vorota. This 4 star hotel and conference center is located just minutes from Moskovskiye Vorota Metro Station and is four metro stops from the city center of Saint Petersburg. It has large, modern, air-conditioned rooms. The hotel has two bars, three restaurants, and a night club. Rodchenko Restaurant serves rich breakfast buffet and a variety of Europe cuisine for lunch and dinner. Guests can make use of the tour desk and ticket service. The friendly, English-speaking staff provides 24 hour assistance. The Moskovskii Prospekt is a short walk away from the conference site, and the airport is only a 20-minute drive away. The Conference Program offered a choice of three day-long workshops each day followed by early evening Round Table discussions led by experts. The daily workshop choices included the specialty areas of Schema Therapy: individual, group, couples, or child-adolescent given by international experts. These workshops provided specific ISST certification credits and we expect them to be university certified to meet international continuing education requirements. Participants from Germany can send in their conference receipts together with the program to their Chamber and ask for Continuing Education credit points. We have been successful with this at previous conferences as events outside of Germany cannot be certified by German Chambers in advance. The Round Table discussions focused on: ST Specialty areas (Child-Adolescent, Group, Couples) ISST Certification, ST Research and ST theory. These provided opportunities to ask questions and share your ideas with international colleagues. The working language of the Summer School is English. Simultaneous translation into Russian for one workshop per day is being explored - info to follow. What are the "White Nights?" "Although the phenomenon known as the "White Nights" is not unique to St Petersburg, in no other northern city have they received such poetic and literary acclaim. What could be more romantic than a walk along the banks of the city's rivers and canals in almost broad daylight, no matter what the time of day? No other major European city can rival From late May to early July the nights are bright in St Petersburg, with the brightest period, the White Nights, normally lasting from June 11th to July 2nd. The White Nights (Beliye Nochi) are a curious phenomenon caused by St. Petersburg's very northerly geographical location - at 59 degrees 57' North (roughly on the same latitude as Oslo, Norway, the southern tip of Greenland and Seward, Alaska). St. Petersburg is the world's most northern city with a population over 1 million, and its stands at such a high latitude that the sun does not descend below the horizon enough for the sky to grow dark. In fact night becomes curiously indistinguishable from day, so much so that the authorities never need to turn the city's streetlights on!" From: www.saint-petersburg.com |
