ISST is evolving. Two years ago, when I first ran for re-election, I was happy to report our membership had nearly doubled in size. Now, four years after starting this position, I am thrilled to report it has nearly tripled. With the growing needs of a rapidly expanding organization, I am excited to use the many lessons learned from the past four years to continue in this position. Newly titled Media Coordinator, I commit to continuing to best serve your needs as a member of this incredible society of schema therapists passionate about helping each other create positive change in our world.
Looking back over the last two years, highlights include highly successful conferences in Barcelona for Summer School in 2017 and INSPIRE 2018 in Amsterdam. I was responsible for promoting both conferences, spending an enormous amount of time establishing a registration system that saved ISST tens of thousands of Euros, allowing us to keep conference fees as low as possible. I worked to promote presenters of schema therapy, along with the specialty topics of schema therapy, to an audience far larger than conference participants. I recorded keynote presenters and workshop presenters in Amsterdam and have been directing and producing multicam recordings for members to relive the inspiration.
I also personally designed updates on the Schema Events App, which has dramatically improved since its inception at INSPIRE 2016 in Vienna. We now have access to the latest features to help participants get the most of their conference experience. I plan to continue to bring the latest developments in technology to the ISST community in Edinburgh for ENLIGHT 2019 and in Copenhagen for INSPIRE 2020 to enhance participants’ experiences and help everyone connect within our ever-growing community.
Additionally, I have worked to promote schema therapy through multiple media channels, from a significantly expanding website to social media posts, the listserv, email blasts to members with the latest design features and future platforms we have yet to discover.
Working with other dedicated and passionate Executive Board members has been a benefit of this position, along with many ISST members who have helped the ISST community. Among many tasks, I will highlight a few projects with each EB member. I worked closely with the Vice President, Remco van der Wijngaart, to produce a highly successful conference in Amsterdam. I worked with the Treasurer, Eckhard Roediger, to help ISST become GDPR-compliant. I assisted Joan Farrell, the Training & Certification Coordinator, and Paul Kasyanik, the Science & Research Coordinator, to promote the program in Barcelona and Amsterdam. I also worked with Chris Hayes, the Secretary, to promote the Schema Therapy Bulletin and newly developed webinar series. Finally, I have been working with the President, David Edwards, who has spearheaded multiple updates and developments on the ISST website and within the ISST organization.
With your vote, I will be honored to serve as ISST Media Coordinator for an additional two years to continue to expand ways you can connect with other members to help each other grow in our schema therapy work. Ultimately, I see each day I serve as an opportunity to help make your membership in ISST even more rewarding.
