Inspired by the work of my father, and the influence of my grandfather, who founded a psychotherapeutic institute during the early stages of psychology in Brazil in the 1970s, I knew early in my life that I would become a psychotherapist.
Schema therapy always had my interest and brought answers to a more empathic, effective and safe treatment in my clinical practice. As a result, the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) has been instrumental in my development as a schema therapist. I want to highlight some mentors, including Wendy Behary, Remco van der Wijngaart and Travis Atkinson, who have influenced and inspired my development as a schema therapist. My schema therapy training took place at the the Cognitive Therapy Center of New Jersey, where I had the privilege to learn from Jeffrey Young, Wendy Behary, Robin Spiro and others.
In the company that I now manage and operate, I am part of a team of pioneers in the development of schema therapy in Brazil. Instituted in 2014, we are the only Brazilian training program accredited by ISST to provide ISST-approved trainings.
I am an Advanced Certified Schema Therapist. I am actively involved in helping our schema therapy courses, including online and face-to-face lectures in our courses. I am currently working to adapt and translate the Schema Mode Inventory for Eating Disorders to the Brazilian population.
As ISST's Media Coordinator, I will work to ensure that the society has a presence on all continents, facilitating access to ISST’s media resources for all therapists seeking information and expertise in our area.
I wish to develop the mobile version of the ISST website, so it can become easy to understand through mobile phones and tablets, in addition to the visual modernization of it, following the trends of the digital market. I want, also, to create an Instagram to contribute marketing ISST, attracting new members and promoting the work of the society.
Another objective that I have is to inform ISST members and therapists, in the clearest possible ways, about the developments of the society and the processes for training and certification. I will work to improve ISST’s online presence, updating and expanding ISST’s many media resources.
Finally, I am grateful to the current Media Coordinator, Travis Atkinson, and former ISST President, Wendy Behary, for endorsing me to run for this position. If chosen, I commit myself to dedicating my work, using my knowledge in digital media and my admiration for schema therapy, toward the development and advancement of ISST for the next two years.
