I am very happy and honoured to be elected as the Vice President for the board of the ISST 2016-2018! I’ve enjoyed a “front-row seat” for the development of not only schema therapy, but ISST as well, and – in addition to a sense of involvement – have always felt quite at home among this international community of like-minded individuals. As a result of this involvement and my passion for the schema therapy model, I have spent years actively working to train and supervise therapists all over the world as they take their first steps with schema therapy. In recent years, I have become aware of a growing desire to actively contribute to the ISST Board. The results of recent elections offer me a chance to take that active role and help the ISST grow further into the healthy adult organisation it is more and more becoming.
First of all I want to thank all the people who have giving me their votes. I do feel honoured by your trust and will do my best to live up to your expectations. I do realize that Vice Presidency was one of the most hotly contested positions in these elections. I therefore want to reach out to the people who voted for one of the other candidates for this position; I do hope I will be able to gain your trust over the next 2 years. The key responsibility of the Vice President's role is the organisation of the 2018 ISST convention and I will do my outmost best to make this convention a joyful experience.
